Overview
Many of our clients wish to update the content of their web
site immediately, without having to contact us to make the
changes
for them. Breaking news, important company announcements,
sales and product price reductions, can be flagged up as
they happen.
Content Management or CMS, allows them to do this from
anywhere in the world, using a web browser like IE6. What's
more, there is no requirement to know anything
about web design or html
in
order
to edit their site, without compromising the design.
There are many different ways in which this system can be
set up; from the simplest form-filling editing to more versatile
editing that you would find in other familiar office programs.
How it works
With all CMS editing systems a site is designed and built
to the client's specifications, with the editable areas defined.
These areas can then be edited, in real time, by the client
when the site is live. Examples could be News pages, diary
dates, employees CV's, product details and specifications.
the list is endless!
The administrator of the site can edit the designated
regions, by entering the site through the
hidden 'back end' or 'administration'
area, logging in using a personal
user name and password.
The content is updated by selecting options, ticking check
boxes, adding text to text box's, or by using
a
simple wysiwyg* editor (similar to any text editor), depending
on the required application.
These page attributes are stored in a database, and are called
as required, creating the web page dynamically!
